WINTER ADVENTURES

WINTER

dog sledding

Experience the thrill of running Iditarod sled dogs as you drive your own team through the Alaskan wilderness. Meet and greet our over the top attention seeking dogs around the campfire and explore a life with sled dogs. It’s an adventure unlike any other sled dog tour!  Guests become a part of the adventure and many tell us this the highlight of their vacations.  We tailor each tour to the needs of our guests whether they prefer to just ride or want to be a more active participant by driving the sled.

TOUR DETAILS: From Anchorage, it is approximately 75 minutes to the kennel. Upon arriving at the kennel, a friendly mob of SAGA's retired dogs meet and greet our guests.  Before we head out on the trail, we gather around the campfire for a brief introduction to the dogs, sled driving and safety.  After that, we invite the guests to meet the team while we harnesses the dogs.  Then, we pull the snowhook and hit the trail where guests have an opportunity to drive the team.  After a 4-5 mile run we will return back to the kennel for pictures and to give the dogs some well earned attention.  All winter gear the guests needs is provided from coats and snow pants to boots and gloves.

Plan for a 2-3 hour visit.

Some people call it a snowmobile, and others call it a snowmachine. SAGA calls it fun! Experience Alaska's winter wilderness with your thumb on the throttle as a SAGA guide leads the way.  Visit the Susitna River Basin with amazing views of Denali while cruising along the trails and playing in the powder.  Moose and dog teams are common the trails and offer more great photographic opportunities.  It's the perfect adventure for experiencing the thrill of snowmobiling in Alaska!

TOUR DETAILS: It is approximately 75 minutes to Willow.  Upon arriving at our facility in Willow, we outfit the guests for everything they need to be safe and comfortable on the trail.  After a brief safety meeting, we will hit the trail to see the sights and play in the snow.  We will return approximately 2 hours later. All winter gear the guests needs is provided from coats and snow pants to boots and gloves.
